National Nutrition Month Tip #8

Flax is a great addition to your daily eating habits. Both oil and seed are great sources of omega 3 fatty acids, but flax seed also contains fiber, protein, lignins, as well as vitamins B1, B2, C and E.

If you’re looking for an easy way to add flax seeds to your diet, you can add them to oatmeal, smoothies, and salads.

Flax helps boost the immune system, and helps lower LDL cholesterol, and is an important part of a woman’s diet during pregnancy and while breastfeeding as it helps with brain development in utero and early in life.
