In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, I wanted to take this post to talk about green smoothies! These can range from simple to complex but one thing is certain – they are a great way to add fruits and veggies to your daily routine.
- They can be made in minutes
- You can use whatever you’ve got in your kitchen
- They’re portable so they’re a great option even if time is short
- You can change them up (and should) so they don’t become another tired routine
- They are so YUMMY!!
To get you started, try something simple. This was actually Chloe’s first smoothie. To give you a sense of what a success it’s been, she looked up from her smoothie the other day(which was much more complex than the original) and said, “I love smoothies!” Music to her mama’s ears!
Here’s how she got started:
1 cup water
handful of spinach
1 banana (if you use a frozen banana, you avoid the need for ice cubes)
ice cubes if needed
Blend and enjoy!
As you get in the habit of enjoying your green smoothies, you can start to experiment with different greens and combinations. It’s so much fun! There are a ton of recipes out there or you can just play and see what you come up with. Sure, you might have a dud here and there, but that’s part of the fun of creating – learning through doing!
Do you love the idea of adding more fruits and veggies into your diet but you’re feeling stuck? Let’s chat.
Peace, Love, and Wellness,
