Almonds are a great source of protein and healthy fat, which makes them the perfect snack to keep nearby all the time, but especially during pregnancy when your caloric need is higher and when frequent snacks are helpful in keeping morning sickness at bay.  Almonds are rich in magnesium, calcium, iron, protein and fiber as well as vitamins including E, riboflavin, niacin and folate.

They are low in saturated fat and a great source of monounsaturated fat, which is what you want in your diet.

Keep a bag at your desk, in the car, and in your purse and you’ll always have a healthy choice when you need a pick me up.
