Possibility. To be open to possibility you must first cultivate trust in yourself. I held this idea in my heart and planned to play with it on my yoga mat during my practice today. I knew what it meant to me. I had poses in mind that represent being open to possibility to me, and I began to explore what poses allow us to create the necessary and accompanying trust.
I came to my mat, centered myself with breath, and began. What followed was not what I expected and perhaps it was a deeper lesson in possibility than any I could have planned.
“That’s not what I wanted to do,” I kept finding myself thinking and then I realized that I was intuitively moving my body through a beautiful and creative flow. I was allowing myself to stay open even when I managed not to find my way to the poses I had expected to, the ones I had thought my body was craving.
We place so much emphasis on listening to ourselves via the mind, when the true wisdom lies within the heart.
When you open to possibility, you allow yourself the chance to get what you most need and desire. In order to do that, you must first cultivate self trust or you will judge yourself all the way to where you don’t want to be.
You take a step in one direction and instead of embracing the possibility, you get stuck questioning if you really wanted to move in the other direction. Self trust is knowing that no matter the direction, you are always moving forward on your path. Self trust is believing in yourself to find some magic in each moment that you create. Self trust is letting go of the judgement and allowing yourself to feel and to honor all the feelings as they arise and let them guide you.
